Polish and symmetry: what the grades mean
Polish assesses the surface; symmetry assesses consistency of shape and facet arrangement. Both concern finish, but neither alone describes overall light performance.
What changes visually?
The scale runs from Excellent to Poor. Fine differences often require magnification. Our diagram exaggerates surface lines and shifted facets. It does not predict a number of scratches or a particular deviation for a real grade.
What does that mean for price?
Higher finish grades may carry a premium, but evaluate the whole stone. A report with top grades does not replace a video or individual inspection.
